I just finished reading This Star Won't Go Out, a touching memoir by Esther Earl and her parents. Esther was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at age 12. She was a normal teenager, but she lived with hope and inspired thousands of people she connected with over the internet. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2010, at the age of 16. John Green has said that while The Fault in Our Stars is not Esther's story, she inspired it. This memoir is a collection of Esther's journals, fiction, letters and sketches, along with photos and writings of her family and friends. It's funny. It's sad. It's inspiring. It's a must read.
Oh, and remember to be awesome!
